On Thursday 24th January, over 800 of the region’s top developers and business professionals gathered at EventCity in Greater Manchester to celebrate the annual Insider North West Residential Awards. Now in its third year, the awards recognise the very best of the region’s housebuilding and residential property community and are firmly established as the ‘Oscars’ of the regions residential property sector.
Placefirst were awarded Bespoke & Urban Developer of the Year, a stiffly contested category which included shortlisted entries from six other developers including Urban Splash, English Cities Fund and Property Alliance Group.
This particular award category, new for 2018, assessed every aspect of performance including number of units built, sales, finance, design & innovation, product range and build quality. The shortlist was made up of firms who have contributed or developed schemes in urban areas, or apartment blocks which have regenerated an area
The judges were particularly impressed by the scale of delivery and commitment to placemaking across the region in challenging locations such as Accrington, Morecambe and Toxteth, Liverpool. In all of these locations, Placefirst has transformed hundreds of long-term empty properties into a diverse range of new family homes which are built for rent and managed directly by Placefirst.
David Smith-Milne, managing director of Placefirst, said:
“To win such a hotly contested category, against developers who have been established much longer than Placefirst makes me so proud of the team we are building at Placefirst.
“We set out to shake up the family rental market through well designed homes and places, and a customer-focussed approach to management and resident services. For a growing number of households, privately renting their home is their only option, and what we are doing is to make that experience one that can genuinely compete with home ownership
“As a young, dynamic North West firm we continuously explore innovation opportunities that can improve us as a business and make renting with Placefirst a best in class experience for our residents, and this award is testament to that approach.”
The awards were judged by leading industry professionals from the public and private sectors such as Shelagh McNerney of Salford City Council, Nik Payne of Nikal, Ewan Miller of Calder Peel, and Ian Martin of Homes England.
